  • Daisey Winslow loves her small town of Sweetwater…and feels guilty that she can’t help wondering how she’d fare living and working in a bigger, faster-paced city.

Just as she’s decided to try a bite of the Big Apple by taking a job in New York, along comes Deputy Sheriff Jack Samson. Her polar opposite, he’s left the mean streets to return home to Sweetwater’s peace and quiet, ready to find that special someone and raise a family, and the more time Daisey spends with him at rodeo events and on the wagon train trek, the calmer her itchy feet get and the duller the big-city lights shine, much to her dismay.

Suddenly coming across the diary of Sadie Rose Winslow, her seven-times-great grandmother, and reading her simple but poignant words makes Daisey question her every decision. The sacrifices and challenges her ancestors faced in travelling across the continent in 1860 by Prairie Schooner is driven home by the experiences of Sadie, her husband Seth, and their unborn child. Sadie’s poignant words send echoes of the past down through the generations and into the present for Daisey, giving her both roots and wings with the simple message, follow your heart. Those words have cemented bonds that have lasted through lifetimes for all those who have made Sweetwater their home.

Daisey’s not quite ready to give up on her dreams before she’s even started living them, however…but what if the dashing lawman can fill her head—and her heart—with different, closer-to-home desires? Ones they can share?

A delightful read.

January Bain's writing is so captivating that I was hooked from start to finish. Find yourself a cozy nook, settle down for the evening and prepare to fall in love with Daisey and Jack. The connections to her family's past really brought the characters to life. Just like Sarah and Seth, Daisey decided to 'follow her heart'.
This book would make a perfect Hallmark movie. It would actually make a great series too with all the different characters (as in Chesapeake Shores). I can just imagine The Wild Roses playing center stage.
I can't wait to read more from this author.

Small town, big heart

January Bain’s writing is so warm and sparkling, and never more so here! She creates such genuine characters with authentic emotions that you get drawn in in a heartbeat and want to be one of them, living among them in this lovely little town. The heroine, Daisey, with her big-city longings, feels so real, and Deputy Sheriff Jack Sampson, with his Daisey longings, leaps off the page too. The connection to Daisey’s ancestors gives the story an extra depth and the supporting characters add extra layers. I hope there are more books in this adorable world!

Sweet, Funny and Delightful!

Oh, my goodness! I just loved everything about Sweetwater Promise! First of all, Daisey Winslow was funny, kind, and charming. It was such fun reading this first-person story from her perspective because I truly liked her and she felt like an instant friend. Then, Deputy Jack was utterly swoon-worthy, strong, considerate, respectful, and handsome. I could truly feel their instant connection, and how torn Daisey was between the two worlds of New York City and Sweetwater. Finally, Sweetwater, North Dakota, itself was an extraordinary character. As someone who happened to grow up in a small, midwestern town where we had an annual festival complete with rodeo and pie-eating contest, this story just brought me right back to my roots, and I couldn’t get enough of the town and its residents. The secondary characters were fun, important to the story, and really gave it a lot more depth and emotion, especially Daisey’s family members. The connection between Daisey and Jack, and Daisey’s ancestors, Sadie and Seth, was very well-done and engaging. If you like sweet romance with real depth and charm, read this today! Five stars from me!

Sweet Romance and Finding Yourself

A story that hit all the Hallmark vibes. History is very important to Sweetwater and Daisey is given her ancestor’s journal to read while on her journey. Her wagon train journey with Deputy Sheriff Jack turns into more than a reenactment of the town’s historical founding. Many lessons are learned from the journal and the journey. Wonderful characters with close family and friends and an amazing dog. Great ending with a one year later piece so you’re not left hanging. Hallmark needs to buy this and turn it into a movie.

Make your heart happy with this Sweet Romance

Budding writer, songstress and reporter for the local newspaper, Daisy Winslow dreams of making it ‘big’.
Sweetwater’s the home that holds a special place in her heart, but it’s a small town, and the city is where she needs to be if she’s to achieve the breakthrough in her career she’s worked so hard for. The sale of a parcel of prime land, inherited from her grandmother, will provide the funds to allow her to do so, and once the annual Sweetwater Rodeo is over she’ll be off.
Newly arrived in town from New York City, Deputy Sheriff Jack Sampson, sets hearts aflutter, but Daisy’s the girl he’s got his eye on and he makes no secret of that fact. Competition heats up in the race to buy her land, leaving Daisy troubled. None of the contenders fits the bill for a buyer who will take care of it in the way her family has for several generations.
Perhaps Daisy will find the solace she seeks in the journal diary of her long-gone ancestor, and perhaps Jack will convince her the love of a good man, surrounded by the friends and family she adores, is preferable to anonymous hurly-burly of a city where no-one gives a damn about anyone but themselves. One outcome is for certain though, with the help of a beautifully written cast of fabulous supporting characters, there will be many delightful twists and turns along the way.
