Three stellar wars have stretched the ability of Earth’s ruling authority, the Council, to control the populace across twelve star systems. Final Solution initially seems an absolute science fiction epic until the reader realizes the opening scene is a memory recalled in dream. Logan is a fighter with credentials and experience which render him the perfect leader for an extraterrestrial charge of military might against oppressors of an order with deathly intent. But the reader is quickly drawn into the dynamics of a relationship between Logan and an extraterrestrial woman named Cali. Their interaction in the opening reflects their deep love for one another and makes Logan’s mission for victory not only a military coup but an endearing vow to his one true love.
I was most impressed by the seamless tale of battle with the human experiences of love and devotion to memory, even in the darkest of moments. The author effortlessly creates a landscape that is at once one of human love and powerfully expressive of personal might. I do not find a problem with the flow of love blended with science fiction as the novel progresses. Any reader with true appreciation of both emotional upheaval and rich science fiction battles will revel in this novel. I give Final Solution the highest reader rating due to its intricate and haunting interactions between lovers and enemies.
